Research and Insights
Technology, and its impact on humanity, is accelerating faster than ever. While there are some negative consequences to this (such as issues around privacy), technology also provides us with an incredible opportunity to increase access to, and a diversification of knowledge.
What are the competencies and needs for today’s students who live in extremely fast-evolving world?
Importantly, however, with facts and data being more readily available, future education needs to go beyond simply acting as a conduit for information and foundational skills. Students need to learn to think critically about what they read and learn. Moving into a new era, our education system needs to equip students with that which cannot be replaced by AI – such as the ability to empathise, to collaborate, and to self-initiate.
The concept
So I proposed SELF- The Social and Emotional Learning bot for the Future.
SELF is a concept of AI-infused chatbot that will facilitate this revolution – enhancing the e-learning experience by fostering a student’s social and emotional skills. It’s your virtual tutor, your virtual peer, and a virtual assistant in your pocket.
To introduce my idea to shake up the future of education, I created a presentation video for SELF. I was given Pearson brand guidelines with the brief, so I focused on the design elements such as colour schemes and typography to ensure that the brand and my concept is well aligned.
The script was written as if the SELF was directly talking to the audience. To deliver the core concept of AI-infused bot and its futuristic approach, I used Adobe Audition CC to generate and edit the artificial robotic voiceover.
